The Brussels sprout is a member of the Gemmifera Group of cabbages (Brassica oleracea), grown for its edible buds. Globular in shape, they grow around the stem and at the base of the main leaves and consist of hawksbill leaflets (one covering one or two underlying).
The Brussels sprouts contain mineral salts, proteins, fibers and vitamins C, A, K and some of the group B . They seem to be a good stimulant of the cerebral activity and concentration thanks to the combination between tiamina and folic acid contained in them.
Area of production and availability:
As a winter vegetable, it prefers a fresh climate, but not too cold. For this reason our best production is located in the Abruzzo region, in a valley between two hills at the base of the Gran Sasso mountain. The production time goes from December to March. Thanks to very good climate conditions the plants can also grow till about 80 cm of height, instead of the standard 40 cm.
The product is deliverable in wooden box and in RPC (Reusable Plastic Containers).
